Maura Bulgheroni fait une thèse interdisciplinaire en ethnoécologie sous la co-direction du Prof. Véronique Joiris Daou et du professeur Edwin Zaccaï. Son objectif est l'étude du changement climatique et de l'adaptation des populations locales à travers une étude de cas: les « Gaddi » de l'Himalaya indien.
Le travail se focalise sur la signification de l'adaptation dans un contexte de processus multifactoriels et multidimensionnels de l’économie pastorale dans les zones montagneuses. La recherche sur le terrain, qui occupe une place prépondérante dans l'ensemble des recherches, sera développée à travers l'étude de cas des Gaddis (bergers agro-pastoraux) semi-nomade de Bharmour en Himalaya (Himachal Pradesh, Inde du Nord).
La recherche se concentre sur deux axes: (1) la première porte sur les questions du changement climatique d'un point de vue ethnoécologique, et il enquêter sur le rôle du phénomène climatique dans la transformation générale du système socio-écologique des Gaddis. (2) Le deuxième axe portera sur les institutions et les organisations locales ainsi que leur interaction avec la réalité sociale-écologique de Gaddis. La recherche vise à (a) des conseils, principalement par le biais d'une réflexion sur les limites possibles à l'adaptation de Gaddis de bergers, sur les mesures qui doivent être prises pour être plus proche de la réalité des Gaddis, (b) créer un précédent pour de futures interventions sur l'adaptation au climat, et de stimuler l'approche des décideurs en leur fournissant un outil de réflexion

Maura Bulgheroni does an interdisciplinary thesis in ethno-ecology under the co-direction of Véronique Joiris Daou and Prof. Edwin Zaccai. Her objectif is the study of climate change and the adaptation of local populations through a case study the “Gaddi” of Indian Himalayas.
The work focuses on the signification of adaptation in a context of multifactorial and multidimensional processes in rural economies in mountainous areas. The field research, which occupies a prominent place in the overall of the researches, will be developed through the case study of the Himalayan agro-pastoral semi-nomadic Gaddis of Bharmour (Himachal Pradesh, North India).
The research focuses on two axes: (1) the first addresses the issues of climate change from an ethnoecological point of view, and it investigate the role of the climatic phenomenon in the general transformation of Gaddis’ social-ecological system. (2) The second focus on local institutions and organisations together with their interaction with Gaddis’ social-ecological reality.
The research aims to (a) advice, principally by the means of a reflexion on potential limits to the adaptation of Gaddis’ shepherds, on measures that have to be undertaken to be closer to Gaddis’ reality, (b) set a precedent for future interventions on adaptation to climate, and stimulate the policy makers’ approach providing them a tool for reflection.
